ibai Gained 407,303 Twitch Followers in One Night. The Gap to #1 Still Doubled.

Twitch has a strange top of the table right now. The #2 account just had an enormous night, the kind most channels never get, and finished the month further behind #1 than when it started.

The night itself

For most of the month ibai sat almost perfectly still. On June 26 he was at 19,852,314 followers. Twenty six days later, on July 22, he was at 19,875,735. That is a gain of 23,421 followers over nearly four weeks, which for an account that size is close to flat.

Then July 24 came in at 19,922,950. The next reading, July 25, was 20,330,253. That is 407,303 followers in a single day, and it carried him through 20 million for the first time.

That single day is worth more than seventeen times what the previous four weeks produced combined. Nights like that are rare, and they are usually the whole story of a month.

Except it was not

While ibai was flat and then exploding, KaiCenat was doing something much less dramatic and much more effective. He went from 20,350,578 on June 26 to 21,342,424 on July 26. That is 991,846 followers in thirty days, and almost none of it came from a single moment.

By July 22, before ibai's night happened at all, KaiCenat had already added 974,840 followers for the month.

The gap tells it cleanly. On June 26, KaiCenat led ibai by 498,264 followers. On July 26, after the stadium night and the 20 million milestone, he led by 992,072. The distance between the two biggest accounts on Twitch almost exactly doubled during the month ibai had his best day.

The number that sums it up

There is one coincidence in the data that makes the point better than any chart. ibai is sitting at 20,350,352 followers today. KaiCenat was at 20,350,578 followers thirty days ago.

ibai's total right now is 226 followers short of where the leader stood a month ago.

What this actually says about growth

Big events buy a spike. They do not buy a trend. A stadium show and a card of fights delivered ibai a day that most channels would never see, and it moved him roughly 2.5 percent in twenty four hours. Steady daily output moved KaiCenat roughly twice as far over the same month without any single day standing out.

Neither of these is the wrong way to grow a channel. They just show up very differently in the data. One is a step. The other is a slope. Over thirty days the slope won, and it was not close.

Compare them side by side

Numbers in a table only go so far. Our Compare tool puts two creators next to each other with their real follower histories, so you can see the step and the slope on the same axis instead of taking our word for which shape beat which.

You can do the same with any two accounts, on any platform we cover, including across platforms if you want to see how a channel's Twitch following stacks up against someone's YouTube or TikTok base.
